Essential Considerations For Potential (wildlife creatures) Pet Owners

By Rachael Wood

Whether your new pet will be a tiny baby or a well-traveled companion from a rescue centre, your most recent addition will surely become an extremely important part of the family, and one that will bring much joy and happiness.

However, determining your pet’s needs may not be as straightforward as many people think, especially for first time owners.

Before committing and becoming a pet owner, make sure you know their requirements. Just like any important family member, you will want to be able to provide the correct care and support for your pet to ensure they settle in well and become a happy, contented and affectionate companion.

Cats and dogs make excellent companions if they are cared for correctly. However potential pet owners need to be aware that this can be costly and expensive and your new pet will require your time and interest for the rest of their lives.

We have come up with a list of essentials that you should be able to provide to guarantee your pretty new pet remains happy and contented.

Can you…

1. Provide a balanced diet and fresh water - to keep your little scruffs coat shining and their eyes twinkling.

2. Provide companionship - to be able to spend quality time with you, or other pets, for at the very least part of the day.

3. Provide regular worming and flea treatments - to keep your pet happy, comfortable and healthy.

4. Provide recommended vaccinations and injections - to protect your pet from a variety of serious illnesses.

5. Provide a safe place to play and exercise every day - to keep your little rascal entertained and amused and to ensure they are always tired by bedtime!

6. Immediately take your pet to the vets if ill or injured - to make sure your pet is never suffering.

It is also extremely important to consider pet insurance when you bring home your new pet as vet bills can really be crippling to you finances. Our family had to take our kitten to the vets after he suffered an allergic reaction and the blood test alone cost 400GBP. Thankfully our insurance paid the full amount less a 50GBP excess

Cats and dogs are naturally very clean animals and often pride themselves in keeping their coats squeaky clean and their eyes twinkling. However, they do have sharp claws, and if not provided with the correct care and equipment they may be more tempted to dig them into your new furniture!

Is Your Dog Unhealthy?
By Andrew Kasch

Making sure that our dogs are well cared for it is a priority for anybody that is a responsible pet owner. We want to make sure that they have a warm and dry place to sleep, whether they are an outside dog or an inside dog. We should also make sure that they are given the proper healthcare that they need because this is certainly something that they are unable to do for themselves. There may be times, however, whenever your dog exhibits some kind of behavior that may have something else at the root of it.

A good example of this is whenever a dog begins to turn a little bit nasty or perhaps even bite. Most people are unaware of the fact that a dog is not going to exhibit this behavior out of the blue and there is always going to be an underlying cause for it. While it is possible for a dog to be mean, they typically will show that behavior from the start but if they began doing these things suddenly, you should begin looking for another cause. Dogs are unable to communicate their illnesses to us and to let us know what is going wrong. A dog that is biting may be having a problem with their teeth or it may be that they have an illness in another part of their body that needs some attention. The best thing that you can do in this particular case is to take your dog to the veterinarian and have a thorough checkup done.

Another type of behavior that may come on suddenly is when a dog has a difficult time going to the bathroom in the house. Although some dogs may end up having this behavior because they were allowed to get away with it once or twice, if it shows up suddenly, there is typically something else that is behind it. You should take a stool sample or perhaps collect some of the urine and take it into the veterinarian in order to have it tested. This will rule out any problems that may be taking place in your dog, at least as far as their excrement is concerned. It is also possible, however, that they are doing this because they have another problem, such as an intestinal parasite or perhaps a bladder or urinary tract infection. In order for you to find out if this is the case, you’re going to have to take your dog into the vet for a checkup.

Make sure that your dog is as healthy as possible and look for any changes that happen within your dog that may signal the fact that they are having a difficult time. Don’t ignore changes that you recognize in your dog because many times, they are the only way that your dog has to communicate problems to you. Learn to listen to what your dog is saying, even if they are unable to speak.

Turkish Carpets Are One Of A Kind
By MIKE SELVON

Turkish carpets are highly sought after throughout the world. The beauty and artistry involved in making these rugs, along with their warm, rich colors, are much-enjoyed characteristics of the rugs. Highly versatile, they can be used as flooring coverings or wall hangings, depending entirely on how they are made and the materials used.

Because they are prized, they can be quite expensive and there are many forgeries on the market. As a result, anyone who is considering purchasing one needs to learn more about them first.

Traditionally, carpets make in Turkey are made by women and girls using wool pile, warps and wefts, as well as natural dyes. Of course, the traditional method of making these carpets is not always the most convenient or cost-effective.

Some variations include weaving with wool pile on cotton warps and wefts, as well as using silk pile, warp and wefts. Chemical dyes and machine weaving have also become common production methods for custom carpets that are meant to be sold.

The different types of Turkish carpets do have different characteristics. Wool on wool carpets, for example, tends to have a low knot count and non-intricate patterns, like geometric shapes, while wool on cotton has a higher knot count and more intricate patterns, including floral designs. Silk on silk rugs have the highest knot count and usually have very intricate patterns.

In addition to materials used, you can determine whether the rug is hand-or machine-spun by looking at the back of it. If the squares are all the same size, then the rug has been machine-spun. You can also tell whether the dyes used are natural or the less expensive chemical versions by wiping a spot of the rug with a damp white cloth.

If color bleeds off, then chemical dyes have been used. Keep in mind that bleeding off on the cloth also means they will bleed onto each other if the carpet is washed.

Weavers of Turkish carpets make them to sell, but they are also used by the weavers as floor coverings, wall hangings, floor mats, and even protective covers during severe changes in temperature. Since they are not all made to sell, and they are only made in a few areas within Turkey, the rugs can be difficult to find.

Although hand weaving has declined because of the increase in machine weaving, the rugs are still made with the kind of quality that allows them to become family heirlooms. Before buying, however, it is important to know enough about the custom carpets to be certain of what you’re being sold.
